INTRODUCTION Foreign Object Debris (FOD) is estimated to cost the aerospace industry $4 billion a year in damage, delays, and repairs. In aviation, FOD includes any object found in an inappropriate location that can damage equipment or injure personnel. This tragedy was most devastatingly illustrated by Air France Flight 4590, demonstrating that what seems small can have catastrophic, hidden consequences.

The primary purpose of this Aviation FOD Awareness Training is to provide a thorough understanding of external and internal FOD hazards , formal FOD prevention programs , and the strict reporting and tool control measures required to maintain airworthiness and compliance under EASA and UK CAA regulations.
